Proof: AI Visibility Correlates with Amazon Bestseller Rankings
The fundamental question every brand asks about GEO: does AI visibility actually drive sales? We set out to answer this with data.
Methodology: We took our AI visibility scores for 50 brands across 5 categories (beauty, electronics, fashion, food, fitness) and compared them against actual Amazon.in bestseller rankings for the same period. The correlation was clear.
In beauty, the top 5 AI-visible brands held 4 of the top 5 Amazon bestseller positions. In electronics, the correlation was even stronger — boAt, which scores highest on AI visibility for audio devices, is consistently the #1 bestseller on Amazon.in for earbuds.
The mechanism is straightforward: consumers increasingly ask AI before purchasing. 'Best wireless earbuds under 2000' in ChatGPT → ChatGPT recommends boAt → consumer searches boAt on Amazon → purchase. The AI recommendation is becoming the new top-of-funnel.
What's interesting is the lag effect. Brands that improve AI visibility see Amazon ranking improvements 2-4 weeks later. This suggests the AI recommendation is genuinely driving new purchase behavior, not just reflecting existing popularity.
For brands currently 'invisible' to AI (composite score below 10): this data shows the opportunity cost. You're not just missing mentions — you're missing sales to competitors that AI actively recommends. The ROI case for GEO optimization is concrete and measurable.
